Foundation
Tamu Pariwar New York, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded on April 6, 2017, by a dedicated group of individuals from the Nepalese Gurung diaspora in New York, USA. The first two words, 'Tamu' and 'Pariwar' in the name of the organization are Gurung language words which mean 'Gurung' and 'Family' respectively. Mr. Damarjang Gurung was the first and founding president of the newly registered organization. He successfully presided over the first 2-year tenure of the Executive Committee. Mr. Gurung, along with his newly formed team, did all the heavy lifting for the establishment of the organization and paved the way for the future committees.

Our Objectives
With the dispersion of the Gurung people worldwide, the Gurung culture, and heritage are mainly fading out among the young Gurungs at an alarming rate. Our mission is to honor, preserve, and promote the unique culture and traditions of the Gurung people through various events, programs, and initiatives. We are committed to providing a platform for the Gurung community to come together, celebrate our rich heritage, and pass it down to future generations. Through our work, we strive to raise awareness about the Gurung community and create a sense of belonging and pride among our members. We welcome everyone who shares our passion for our culture and traditions to join us in our efforts to strengthen and promote the Gurung community in and around New York.
