Our Mission and Objectives
With the global dispersion of our community, Gurung culture and heritage face the risk of fading among younger generations. Tamu Pariwar New York, Inc. is committed to reversing this trend by providing a structural platform that connects our youth to their roots and strengthens our community within the Greater New York area.
To achieve this, our organization focuses on the following core objectives:
-
Cultural Continuity: Actively pass down the unique traditions, language, and history of the Gurung people to future generations through structured programs and youth involvement.
-
Community Integration: Provide a safe, welcoming platform for Gurung families residing in and around New York to connect, share experiences, and build a strong sense of belonging.
-
Awareness & Advocacy: Raise public awareness about the rich heritage of the indigenous Gurung community and advocate for our members' needs by collaborating with other non-profit organizations.
-
Inclusive Engagement: Welcome and engage anyone who shares a passion for our culture, fostering unity and harmony across the broader diaspora.
